Renowned sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra honoured for Padma Vibhushan in 2013


On the occasion of 64th Republic day of India, Renowned sculptor Mr Raghunath Mohapatra has been honoured for Padma Vibhushan. He creates a greate milestone for Odisha.

The iconic sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra was born in Puri, Odisha. He has designed and crafted many temples, stone statue, sand arts, hotel interiors.



Since 1963 he is working as a senior instructor and superintendent of Handicraft training & designing center, at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

His designs are very attractive. some of the designs made by him are
  • Konark Horse seen at Master Canteen Square is made by him.
  • He mades two white sand stone Buddha statutes at Dhauligiri, Odisha
  • Made a lotus in single black granite stone at Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s samadhi at Vir Bhumi, Rajghat,
  • Mukteswar Gate in red sand stone at Surajkund in Haryana and
  • Mde some statues of Gautam Buddha in white sand stone at Ladakh.

Renowned sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra, some of the prestigious awards are

  • He was awarded prestigious Padma shri in 1976 by the President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed
  • He was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2001 by the President K.R. Narayanan.
  • Honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 2013
